Physical Assistance Robots: functioning, use in industry and health and safety issues
Publication
Technological developments in the field of collaborative robotics lead to the emergence of physical
assistance robots (PAR). In this context, Ferry Captain Foundry has decided to integrate a PAR for the finishing
tasks in order to maintain active its expert workers suffering from TMS and to facilitate employment on this very
painful profession. PAR is designed to improve both productivity and working conditions but it modifies deeply
the relationship between man and machine. Understanding of PAR functioning and first feedback of their
integration in industry allows us to present a draft of health and safety issues and first points of vigilance to be
observed in design, installation and use of this type of robots.
