Factoring muscle activation and anisotropy in modelling hand-transmitted vibrations: a preliminary study
Publication
The exertion of force by an operator in order to hold or guide a machine has an impact on the level of vibrations transmitted to the hand. Prolonged exposure to high levels of vibration can lead to the development of hand-arm vibration syndrome. Therefore, it is important to gain an understanding of the phenomena involved in vibration transmission in order to prevent vibration-induced pathologies. To this end, a numerical hand model is being developed, and this article presents initial results from its utilisation.
