Qualitatives and quantitatives analysis of volatile organic compounds emissions generated during offset printing sheet process

Publication

The main objective of this parametric study is to measure the emissions of volatile organic compounds generated during the sheet-fed offset printing process by varying different parameters (inks, cleaning solvents, percentage of isopropyl alcohol, nature of the paper, etc.). The printing machine (HEIDELBERG SM 52-2 colors) is installed in a measuring vein in which all pollutants are captured. Air samples were taken simultaneously on activated carbon tubes and by means of PID at different points in the sampling section of the extraction duct. The activated carbon tubes are analyzed by gas chromatography after having carried out the qualitative analysis by mass spectrometry. The results of this study made it possible to evaluate the influence of the various parameters on the emission rates of a press.
