1. IT: Definition and directions for use

The new technologies of Information and Communication (IT) are omnipresent in the literature, the scientific conferences and the business world. Specifying these technologies is a prerequisite to a reflection about their impact on business. What are these tools? What are they used for? What are their specificities? <br/>
This paper proposes a bibliographical synthesis which answers to these questions by means of a characterization of these technologies and definition. It introduces the IT applications and indexes them according to a functional view by attaching the social and organisational consequences to each of them. These technologies are supplanting strictly data-processing. The part of explication is given by the context of these tools: social and economical.<br/>
