Testing the concentration of particles emitted by diesel vehicles equipped with particulate filters
Publication
Currently, the limit for particulate emission from diesel non-road mobile machinery is set relative to the mass of soot particles. For many reasons (metrology, toxicology, etc.), legislation is currently focusing on limits defined relative to the number of solid particles emitted. Various
measurement instruments making it possible to determine numerical concentrations are commercially available. The aim of the study conducted was to compare the performance of a certain number of instruments, to study the influence of the conditioning of the sampled aerosol, and to see to what extent it is possible to do without that conditioning with the aim of merely testing operation of a diesel particulate filter (DPF).
