Demonstrating that prevention can be profitable (or less costly than simply considering the cost of the associated investments) is an additional argument to encourage decision-makers to become more actively involved in programs aimed at improving health and safety at work, in the same way as incentives provided by regulations or legal consequences. This allows prevention to be presented in a positive light that is consistent with the approach of decision-makers who are accustomed to thinking in terms of profitability. This article sheds light on the cost-benefit analysis method as applied in two different companies.
