Propagation of New Information and Communication Technologies (NICT): proposed extended methodology
Publication
The advantage of identifying the phenomenon of propagating NICT-related occupational usage impacts is that it takes into account every directly or indirectly exposed player potentially affected by prevention action. Prevention action efficiency could be enhanced by considering work situations as a whole and by focusing on links between these situations.
The aim of this study is to propose an analysis framework and methodology appropriate to considering this phenomenon. In fact, it quickly became apparent that the approaches conventionally applied in ergonomics do not allow us to tackle this propagation phenomenon. We have proposed a method of simultaneously studying several work situations involving NICT users at the same company. We have complemented this with an analysis of all company departments, whether they be users or not.
This approach has been tested at an urban passenger transport establishment within an NICT introduction context. This study reveals the necessity and feasibility of integrating all company players into the analysis of its usage-related impacts. It allows early identification of the risks, to which both users and non-users will be subjected. All these aspects enable us to integrate prevention as far upstream as possible within an NICT introduction framework.
