Measurement of the collection efficiency of the CIP 10-M sampler: influence of the presence of aqueous or viscous liquids in the rotating cup

Presentation

Noting that a new version of the cup was now commercialised and the assumption that the use of viscous liquids, not evaporating, could increase the sampling duration and modify the physical performances, the objective of this work was to characterize the collection efficiency of the new rotating cup in the presence of aqueous liquid (water) or viscous (ViaTrap ® mineral oil).
The use of the viscous liquid studied allows sampling for a period of 8 hours without loss of volume in the collection cup of the CIP 10-M (about 3 mL). The experimental curve of collection efficiency is now established for the smaller particles, data that were missing in the publication of Görner et al. (2006).
