World Hearing Day 2019 : What about occupational exposure?

Contributing to Wikipedia to deliver OSH information for all workers

Each year, around 25% of French workers are exposed to hazardous noise levels at work. Today, noise still an issue in traditional industries or in the construction sector but it is also a nuisance in logistics and open spaces. INRS, together with NIOSH, WHO and other partners, has contributed to a Wikipedia Edit month in order to promote workplace noise reduction and improve information about hearing loss on Wikipedia.

INRS, in partnership with NIOSH, its sister organisation in the US, is endeavouring to expand and improve the occupational safety and health content on Wikipedia. In July 2018, John Sadowski, Wikipedian-in-residence at NIOSH, visited INRS to share his experience about how to make valuable contributions and improve French Wikipedia articles about OSH.

Wikipedia has become an important source of information for a large part of the population. Many people are turning to Wikipedia for information or are directed to Wikipedia by their search engine. Our challenge at INRS is to put our research into practice and to reach the largest audience while delivering accurate information on occupational safety and health.
