Subjective relation to isolation at Work: regulation, resistance, alternative options

Publication

The fiabilist and cognitive approaches developed within the INRS on the issue of professional isolation helped to understand the safety of isolated employees and sometimes their health. However, these approaches explain poorly the transition from a situation where an employee reduces the relationships he has with his colleagues (common situations) to a situation where he feels isolated, lonely, at a point he has no longer the ability to seek assistance if necessary. The reasons for this transition make it necessary to consider the feelings of employees facing these situations and their ability to influence them. In this perspective, the workload, emotions and more generally the intensive aspects of cognition and their means of regulation need to be explored. The proposed literature review deals almost exclusively with the question of subjective approach to aloneness at work, so that this complementary view could be integrated into the global reflection that the INRS dedicates to these issues.
