Asbestos removal: progress report on the measurement campaign at nine worksites
Publication
French regulations on the risks of exposure to asbestos have been amended considerably since 2012, with the occupational exposure limit value having been reduced to 10 F/l as of 1st July 2015. In order to check that the performance of Respiratory Protective Devices (RPDs) used on asbestos removal worksites are compatible with these new regulatory requirements, INRS assessed the RPDs in 2014 and in 2015 on 9 asbestos removal worksites. This campaign of measurements showed that progress needs to be made as regards how the work is organised and as regards collective protective equipment in order to comply with the new regulations. These efforts should be particularly marked when treating
asbestos-containing plasters for which very high exposure levels were recorded.
