Which link between work and territory? The case of waste sorting center
Publication
In the waste management and recycling sector, a diversity of actors, at different levels of decisionmaking take decisions that influence organizational process and, at last, work conditions of sorting machine operators. National politics – imposed by national decision-makers (level macro) – are transposed on a territory after a territorialisation process– that is to say an adaptation founded on relations between territorial level and operational level. This paper aims at showing links between work and territory and the interest for ergonomics to consider these links. It is centered on interplays of territory’s actors (level meso) and those from waste sorting centers (level micro) and their articulation with the territory. We see territory as socially heterogeneous groups, leading different types of activities, but engaged in a same project.
