1,3-butadiene: review of the preventive measures implemented in 2013.

Using or handling 1,3-butadiene can give rise to long-term health and safety risks to long-term health and safety risks for employees. The third most consumed category-1A carcinogenic substance in France, 1,3-butadiene is mostly used for manufacturing synthetic polymers and is to be found in the state of traces in liquefied petroleum gas. At national level, there is little data on exposure to 1,3-butadiene. An industry study has been conducted to provide knowledge on how this substance is used at the sites potentially involved, to estimate the workers potentially exposed, and to paint a picture of the technical and organisational risk prevention practices related to the manipulation/presence of 1,3-butadine at the relevant sites.
