Why focus on ICT for the prevention? Specificities of ICT and difficulties
Publication
At company, the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facilitate the flow of information, strengthen the collective work, increase productivity... They occupy an increasingly important role in the everyday’s life.
In the literature, a scientific community meeting about ICT and their "horizontal" dimension: they "connect" employees with different functions inside and outside the company. Like any tool or method, the introduction of ICT leads to the transformation of work which may have different effects for occupational risks. The role of ICT in these transformations has remained little known, even though the prevention of occupational risks is a requirement in France. Consequently, it is surprising that little link is also investigated. In addition, when the occupational risks and ICT relationship is contemplated, it is examined for a job even though the "transverse" dimension of ICT is one of their central feature.
A summary of occupational risks identified in this essentially local context is given by the CAS. We also provide a brief summary of the barriers to ownership, ICT time sources of risks. One of these obstacles is the difficulty in understanding the transversal ICT. Through a field study in the field of road transport of goods, we illustrate the feasibility of taking into account the cross of ICT using an approach coupling ergonomics and ethnography.
