International conference - Sustainable prevention of MSDs : new challenges for research and practice
From May 5 to 7, 2026
From May 5 to 7, 2026, INRS organized an international conference to the prevention of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) in a constantly evolving world of work. The objective of this conference was to highlight the richness and diversity of knowledge and multidisciplinary approaches relating to the prevention of MSDs.
Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) of occupational origin are a major occupational health problem. For several decades, they have been one of the leading causes of occupational illnesses and work accidents in most countries, as well as a factor in professional disintegration.
Developments such as teleworking, sedentary lifestyle, platformization, new technologies, new forms of employment, work and organization, the evolution of interactions within collectives, the diversity of populations at work and new Workers' aspirations continue to reconfigure the dynamics of the appearance of MSDs.
At the same time, these changes have an influence on the practices of researchers and professionals in the field. Prevention professions and stakeholder profiles are evolving. These changes, associated with the use of emerging technologies, increase the capacities for collecting and analyzing human activity, while redefining modes of collaboration and methods of intervention.
The objective of this conference was to highlight the richness and diversity of knowledge and multidisciplinary approaches relating to the prevention of MSDs.
Communications came from various disciplines: ergonomics, epidemiology, occupational medicine, physiology, psychology, biomechanics, etc.
